57TH ANNUAL PRIMETIME EMMY® AWARDS TO HONOR HURRICANE KATRINA VICTIMS Producers To Encourage Information on How Viewers Can Donate to Recovery Efforts Throughout Telecast

STATEMENT FOR RELEASE:


North Hollywood, CA, September 6, 2005
– In connection with the 57th Annual Primetime Emmys Awards, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, along with CBS and Ken Ehrlich Productions, have released the following statement concerning Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath:

Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by the devastating and tragic hurricane that has hit the Gulf Coast states.

In honor of the survivors and in remembrance of the victims, we will be giving magnolias (the state flower of both Louisiana and Missisippi) to presenters and performers on the 57th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 18.

In addition, throughout the telecast, we will provide information for viewers who wish to make donations and lend their support to the massive recovery effort..

The 57TH Annual Primetime Emmy® Awards is being produced by Ken Ehrlich Productions. Nominations for the 57TH Annual Primetime Emmy® Awards were announced July 14, live from the Television Academy’s Leonard H. Goldstein Theatre in North Hollywood. 

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences was founded in 1946 just one month after network television was born. It is a non-profit organization devoted to the advancement of telecommunications arts and sciences and to fostering creative leadership in the telecommunications industry.
