How He Got the Gold: As stunt coordinator for Showtime's Shameless in 2016 and 2017.

Now for the Noms: Perez has been nominated three times for his work on Shameless.

Winning with Friends: "When I won my first Emmy, the presenters were Ken Jeong and his stunt double, Phil Tan, who's a longtime friend. I went onstage, and Phil and I hugged. It was great to receive the award from a peer I admire and respect."

Path to the Prize: "I studied exercise physiology and worked as a personal trainer. While training Anthony Michael Hall and Mickey Rourke, I spent time on set and became interested in stunts. My childhood friend Esai Morales was doing a film, and he asked me to stand in for him. That was my first job as a stuntman. After that I went to Paul Stader's stunt classes and began my quest to make it a career."

Write of Way: "What makes working on Shameless special is the great writing. It's fun to read the episodes and then think of how to complement the writing with the action. I look forward to sitting with our producers, director and department heads to come up with the best way to accomplish a scene."

Team Effort: "The best part of my job is seeing the final product and knowing what went into accomplishing the stunts. I really enjoy the process and knowing I'm one part of the Shameless family.
