Television Academy Foundation fellowships are available in the categories below. Please visit this page for information on how to apply.

 

Agency (Talent, Literary, Below-the-Line)
Desirable background: Liberal arts/business background, writing ability, verbal and social skills. Strong desire to enter agency or entertainment management.
Open to all class levels.

Animation (Traditional, Computer-Generated)
Desirable background: Art, theater arts, film, writing, photography. All applicants must upload a video link of work samples showing animation of characters, props, etc., as well as a storyboard.
Open to all class levels.

Casting
Desirable background: Organizational and people skills. Knowledge of television, movies and theatre. Liberal arts, communication background, computer literate, good memory.
Open to all class levels.

Cinematography
Desirable background: Strong motion picture/video/photography background. All applicants required to upload a video link of work samples (no more than 5 min. in total.) Original work can be film, digital or tape.
Open to all class levels.

Design - Art Direction/Set Decoration
Desirable background: Background in Fine Art, Theatre Set Design, and/or Architecture. Knowledge of simple construction and drafting is preferred. Digital portfolio required. See category description within application form for details.
Open to all class levels.

Design - Costume
Desirable background: Theatre costume design and/or fashion design background with a focus on storytelling and character development and practical production work on at least 3 realized productions. Digital portfolio required. See category description within application form for details.
Open to all class levels.

Directing (Single-Camera/Multi-Camera)
Desirable background: Courses in directing and editing; experience on electronic cameras. All applicants required to upload a video link of one continuous scene (no more than 2 min. in total). Original work can be film, digital or tape.

Editing (Scripted, Reality)
Desirable background: Film and tape editing courses. All applicants required to upload a video link of work samples (no more than 5 min. in total.)
Open to all class levels.

Interactive Media (New Media, Social)
Desirable background: Courses in TV/Film/Interactive media production, creative writing/storytelling and/or entertainment marketing/communications. Familiarity with interactive technologies and/or social platforms a plus.
Open to all class levels.

Music
Desirable background: Music background, strong interest in music for TV/Film, orchestral and electronic aptitude and experience, familiarity with music production software. All applicants must upload a video link of original composition(s) (no more than 5 min in total) that underscore video, as well as a paragraph explaining the context of the scene(s).

News - Broadcast
Desirable background: TV production and journalism courses, basic computer skills.
Open to all class levels.

News - Entertainment
Desirable background: TV production and journalism courses, basic computer skills. Should be social media savvy and know how to use Twitter, Google+/YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook.
Note: This fellowship is not for those aspiring to be on-air talent.

Physical Production/Business Management
Desirable background: TV/Film major, computer skills.
Open to all class levels.

PR/Publicity
Desirable background: Strong writing skills. Major or minor must be in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Publicity or English.
Open to all class levels.

Production (Commercials, Documentary/Nonfiction, Live Television, Movies for Television, Scripted Series)
Desirable background: TV/Film production major/minor
Open to all class levels.

Sound
Desirable background: Some music and/or sound effects editing and mixing experience desired. Basic understanding of electronics, sound equipment and computers.
Open to all class levels.

TV Scriptwriting (Comedy)
Desirable background: Strong writing background. Applicants must submit a PDF of an original scene (maximum of four pages) from a current comedy series, which must include the show name, a logline and the network, cable channel or streaming service on which the series airs. Logline should explain the scene, not the overall story. Applicants should research most current scriptwriting formats for appropriate style.
Open to all class levels.

TV Scriptwriting (Drama)
Desirable background: Strong writing background. Applicants must submit a PDF of an original scene (maximum of four pages) from a current drama series, which must include the show name, a logline and the network, cable channel or streaming service on which the series airs.
