Patrick Williams was an American composer, arranger, and conductor.

Williams scored music for many television shows, including The Virginian, The Name of the Game, Mannix, Cannon, The Streets of San Francisco, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart Show, Lou Grant, After MASH, The Simpsons, The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd, Columbo, and Monk, as well as numerous made-for-television films.

Williams scored music for many television shows, including The Virginian, The Name of the Game, Mannix, Cannon, The Streets of San Francisco, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart Show, Lou Grant, After MASH, The Simpsons, The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd, Columbo, and Monk, as well as numerous made-for-television films.

In addition to his television work, Williams was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for composing the orchestral work An American Concerto. He also received two Grammy Awards for his jazz arrangements, and an Oscar nomination for film composition.

Williams arranged and conducted both volumes of Frank Sinatra’s final studio recordings, Duets, in the early 1990s, and later paid tribute to the singer and his favorite tunes in his own 1998 album, Sinatraland. Williams arranged for a wide variety of other singers including Barbra Streisand, Jack Jones, Natalie Cole, Neil Diamond, Gloria Estefan, Michael Feinstein, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Patti Austin, Barry Manilow, and Bette Midler.

Williams died July 25, 2018, in Santa Monica, California. He was 79.
