Michael Olman, C.A.S., has been involved in sound recording for the past 25 years. Starting with his early involvement in Detroit’s music scene, Olman has worked in almost every role in sound for television and film — from sound and video transfer to his most recent position as supervising re-recording mixer. In addition to his service as governor, Olman has served as a member of the Television Academy's Awards Anomalies, Membership, and Technology and Convergence Committees and as an elected member of the Budget Review Committee.

Starting with his early involvement in Detroit’s music scene, Olman has worked in almost every role in sound for television and film — from sound and video transfer to his most recent position as supervising re-recording mixer. In addition to his service as governor, Olman has served as a member of the Television Academy's Awards Anomalies, Membership, and Technology and Convergence Committees and as an elected member of the Budget Review Committee. In 2010, Academy Chairman John Shaffner appointed Olman to chair the Budget Review Committee and to co-chair the Theatrical Standards Committee. Outside the Television Academy, Olman has donated time as a guest lecturer at UCLA, panelist at industry conferences and conventions, jurist for international film festivals and is a former member of the Cinema Audio Society’s Board of Directors. A recipient of 14 Primetime Emmy nominations and winner of three Primetime Emmy awards for Outstanding Sound Mixing, Olman has also been nominated for several MPSE Golden Reel Awards and six MIX Magazine TEC (Technical Excellence and Creativity) Awards. Michigan State University’s College of Communication Arts & Sciences honored Olman with its prestigious 2006 Outstanding Alumni Award. He has also received 18 nominations for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing from the Cinema Audio Society, including three wins for his work on 24 and When Dinosaurs Roamed America.
