Me and My Emmy

Me and My Emmy: Sheila Lawrence

From holding a borrowed Emmy to getting one of her own, Sheila Lawrence appreciates the moments.

Primetime Emmy Tally: One

How She Got the Gold: As coexecutive producer of Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, named Outstanding Comedy Series in 2018.

Now for the Noms: Lawrence was also nominated as coexecutive producer of ABC's Ugly Betty when it competed for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2007.

Glam Slam: "I enjoy getting glammed up for the Emmys a little too much! I've secretly always wanted to be on the other side of the camera, but given that I'm a mediocre actress, I settle for going over-the-top with events like this."

Photo Op: "When I was a student member of the Academy, I got to be a seat filler at the Emmys. I was determined to get a picture with a statue and finally approached John Larroquette, who graciously obliged.

Fast forward to last year's Governors Ball, where every time I saw someone eyeing my Emmy, I asked if they wanted a picture with it. Every single person lit up at the offer. It was amazing to make other people as excited as I was all those years ago — and still am."

'S Marvelous: "Dan Palladino and Amy Sherman-Palladino [executive producers of Maisel] are two of the funniest people you'll ever meet. I'm incredibly lucky I get to spend time in a room with them and call it work. The snacks are also exceptional."

A Mother Knows: "When I got my first job in television, I couldn't afford an apartment, so I clandestinely moved into an empty dressing room at the studio where our show was being produced. At the time, my mother told me she knew I was going to win an Emmy one day. Thanks, Mom, for believing in me!"
