WGA TV Noms Announced

Simpsons and Office Lead Pack

Fox’s animated comedy The Simpsons and NBC’s half-hour comedy The Office led the television nominations for the 58th annual Writers Guild of America Awards with four and three, respectively.

Several series garnered two nominations each, including NBC newcomers Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and 30 Rock, as well as ABC’s Lost.

In addition to preme-time series, nominations were also announced for long-form original series; comedy/variety series; comedy/variety—music, awards, tributes; daytime programming; children’s programming; documentaries; and news.

Overall, NBC led the major broadcast networks with 13 nominations, to tie with PBS, which achieved a perfect 10-out-of-10 showing in two documentary categories. ABC earned nine noms, followed by eight for Fox and seven for HBO.

The nominations, which were selected by WGA committees, were announced on Wednesday. Winners will be chosen based on voting by all 13,000 eligible guild members and announced at the WGA Awards on February 11, with simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York.

The complete list of nominees is as follows:
