Television production in LA increases

Production on the streets of Los Angeles city and county rose by 2.5% last year, demonstrating the sustained strength of television production.

Data compiled by the Entertainment Industry Development Corp. reveal that feature, television, commercial and music video production days rose to 28,633 in 2003, up from 27,919 the year before.

Television production saw a substantial increase in 2003, rising 12% to 14,395 production days. The number stands as the highest the EIDC has recorded since its creation in 1995.

In contrast, feature film production days fell 8.6% for the year to 7,329, the lowest number ever recorded by the EIDC. Commercial production was up slightly, growing 1.5% for the year to 5,701 days. Music video production fell 14% to 1,208 days.
