Go Behind the Scenes At 70th Emmy Awards With Unparalleled Digital And Social Access To Television's Biggest Night

The Television Academy today announced the unprecedented "insider's access" Emmy viewers will have to the 70th Emmy Awards telecast thanks to pre- and post-show streaming programs from PEOPLE, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY and IMDb, in addition to the extraordinary "behind-the-scenes" coverage of Backstage LIVE!, the Television Academy's companion program on Emmy night, streaming exclusively on Emmys.com and Live on the Television Academy's Facebook Page Facebook.com/TelevisionAcad.

Digital programming begins at 6:00 PM ET/3:00 PM PT when PeopleTV streams the live red carpet pre-show, PEOPLE & ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY Red Carpet Live. The two-hour show will wrap immediately before the ceremony begins at 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT.
 
PeopleTV hosts Jeremy Parsons (PEOPLE Now) and Lola Ogunnaike (Couch Surfing) will host the pre-show, along with JD Heyman (Deputy Editor, PEOPLE), Gerrad Hall (Digital Staff Editor, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY) and Rocsi Diaz (Chatter, PeopleTV), who will be stationed at multiple locations on the red carpet.
 
Backstage LIVE! viewers on Emmys.com and Facebook Live will see a number of key backstage locations via multiple cameras including:

  • The Lindt Chocolate Lounge: Access to TV's biggest stars as they mix, mingle and indulge in Lindt LINDOR Chocolate Truffles before taking the Emmy stage.
  • Thank You Cam: A first look at award winners fresh off the stage as they thank additional friends, family, colleagues and fans.
  • Trophy Cam: Watch the winners pick up their official Emmy Statuette before entering the Press Room.
  • Interview Cam: Host Marc Istook shares fan comments and questions with the winners throughout the evening in his prime position amid all the action.
  • And many, many more viewpoints of all the action backstage!


All Backstage LIVE! content will be available for immediate replay-and-repeat viewing following the program on Emmys.com and Live on the Television Academy's Facebook Page Facebook.com/TelevisionAcad. The Television Academy's website showcases the organization's activities and content including exclusive photos and videos from the Emmys, original videos "My Emmy Moment," "Fashion Flashback," and original content from Television Academy membership events throughout the year.

For the third year in a row, the Television Academy has joined forces with IMDb, the world's most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV and celebrity content, to produce the official 70th Emmy Awards online post-show, IMDb LIVE After the Emmys. On September 17 at 11:00 PM ET/8:00 PM PT, as the NBC network telecast ends, IMDb will report live from the Winners Walk inside the Press Center.

The one-hour live show, co-hosted by The IMDb Show 's Tim Kash and Amanda Salas, is slated to feature interviews with winners and presenters, expert analysis, social media fan Q&As and red carpet arrival replays.

Twitter: Fans will have many ways to get a front row seat to the Emmys on Twitter. During the red carpet, Twitter will simulcast PEOPLE & EW Red Carpet Live pre-show from @People and IMDb LIVE After the Emmys from @IMDb.

The 70th Emmy Awards airs live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Monday, September 17 (8:00-11:00 PM ET/5:00-8:00 PM PT) on NBC. Saturday Night Live's Colin Jost and Michael Che will co-host, and the telecast will be produced by Lorne Michaels (Saturday Night Live; The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon).
