Wayne Massarelli, Makeup Artist to Top Female Stars

Massarelli, who worked widely in both film and television, had a client list that included Farrah Fawcett, Jane Fonda, Joan Rivers, Ann-Margret and Lauren Bacall.

Wayne Massarelli, a makeup artist whose clients included such stars as Farrah Fawcett, Jane Fonda, Joan Rivers, Ann-Margret and Lauren Bacall, died July 13, 2012. He was 62.

According to news reports, the cause was liver cancer.

Massarelli, who grew up in Boston, got his start at a salon in Beverly Hills, where one his clients was Fawcett, who asked him to do her makeup for all her editorial and cosmetic ad campaigns.

Eventually he moved into freelance print work, then television and film.

His feature film credits include The Muppets Take Manhattan, Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde, My Fellow Americans, These Old Broads and The Santa Clause 3.

in addition, he worked on such television series as Grace Under Fire, Karen Sisco and Hawthorne, as well as made-for-TV movies, including Christmas in Connecticut, Tears and Laughter: The Joan and Melissa Rivers Story and Too Rich: The Secret Life of Doris Duke.

He is survived my his mother, sister, and partner John W. Miller.
