Television Academy Foundation Elects 2011 Officers

Margaret Loesch, Michael Lombardo and Jerry Petry re-elected and Billie Greer newly elected secretary.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation has elected their Officers for 2011. Current Board Member Billie Greer joins the Board Officers as Secretary. Greer will replace Charles W. Fries, who will remain an integral part of the Foundation as a member of the board.

Other Foundation board officers were re-elected for a second term. Jerry Petry, former executive vice president, administration, NBC Universal Television, West Coast, has been re-elected to his position as board chairman. Michael Lombardo, president, programming, HBO, returns to his role as vice-chairman of the board. Margaret Loesch, president and CEO of The Hub, the recently launched cable television network for kids and their families, has been re-elected to the position of treasurer. Finally, newly elected secretary, Greer, has 30 years of experience in public affairs as an advocate and community leader. She joined the board in 2009 and served as a member of former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s senior staff from 2004 – 2010.

“Billie joins an all-star group of officers, each an influential leader dedicated to furthering the mission of the Foundation, to preserve the history and shape the future of the television industry,” said Norma Provencio Pichardo, executive director, Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation. “We are so grateful to Billie, Jerry, Michael and Margaret for their tireless efforts on our behalf.”

“My utmost gratitude goes out to Chuck Fries for his exceptional service as Secretary of the Board,” added Jerry Petry, chairman of the board of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation. “His unwavering support of the Foundation and personal counsel to me have been invaluable, and we are thankful he is remaining a board member.”

The Foundation board oversees projects such as the Archive of American Television, an ambitious interview collection featuring rare, in-depth interviews with television’s biggest stars, industry legends, and crucial behind-the-scenes players who have made television magic, housed online at www.emmytvlegends.org. Additionally, the Foundation continues to pave the way for future leaders in the industry with educational programs such as the College Television Awards, the Foundation's renowned student internship program, and scholarship opportunities such as the Fred Rogers Memorial Scholarship, the Loreen Arbus Focus on Disability Scholarship and the Focus on Diversity and Gender Equality in Children’s Media Scholarship, sponsored by the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media.
