In an Emmy First, the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards Will Stream a Live Companion Show from Backstage on Emmys.com and NBC.com

Seven cameras will capture exclusive behind-the-scenes moments. Also, red carpet arrivals to be streamed live on NBC.com, AccessHollywood.com, Ustream.com and Emmys.com

For the first time in the history of the Primetime Emmy® Awards, viewers will be able to see exclusive behind-the-scenes content when NBC.com and Emmys.com partner with Ustream.com to provide a live unique perspective of The 62nd Primetime Emmy® Awards, hosted by Jimmy Fallon, airing live coast-to-coast on NBC (5-8 p.m. PT, 8-11 p.m. ET), on Sunday, August 29.

Seven cameras positioned in various areas backstage at the Emmys® will “eavesdrop” and capture exciting moments and candid reactions from television’s biggest stars. Viewers will be able to see nominees, presenters and performers prepare to take the stage on the most anticipated night in television. Another unprecedented Emmy® first is the live “Thank You” camera, where Emmy® Award winners will be able to express their emotions and continue their speeches once they leave the stage.

David Neal will produce the Backstage Live @ the Emmys show, which will stream on Emmys.com, the official website for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, NBC.com and Ustream.com, a live interactive broadcast platform. Neal most recently produced the Primetime show and the Opening Ceremony during NBC’s coverage of the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games.

“I am thrilled to be a part of this innovative move by the Academy and NBC to take viewers backstage live at the Primetime Emmys,” said Neal. “There is so much spontaneous action taking place behind the curtain, which will make an ideal on-line companion to broadcast. I’m especially happy to be working with my longtime friend and mentor Don Mischer, who is quite simply the gold standard for live events on television.”

“NBC.com is excited to be working with all of our creative partners to enhance the audience’s viewing experience with unique and exclusive content,” said Stephen Andrade, Senior Vice President, Digital Development and General Manager NBC.com. “The live streaming coverage of The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards will give fans V.I.P. access to the biggest night in television.”

“The live streaming that will take place at the Emmys this year will provide our audience with an enhanced viewing experience that will run concurrently with the telecast,” said John Shaffner, chairman and CEO of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. “With more and more viewers using the internet while they watch television, we believe the live streaming across these multiple platforms will allow viewers an all access look at television’s biggest night.”

In addition, cameras will catch the glamour of the red carpet arrivals as they are streamed live on NBC.com, AccessHollywood.com, Emmys.com and Ustream.com starting at 4:00pm PT/ 7:00pm ET. AccessHollywood.com’s popular “Dish Of Salt,” correspondent, Laura Saltman, will be on the red carpet interviewing celebrities, covering the fashion and will also answer questions live from viewers so they can be part of the ultimate Emmy experience. Red carpet questions can be submitted via the NBC.com Emmy website at http://www.nbc.com/emmys/ or via Twitter at #emmys10.
