Me and My Emmy: Kimberly Wannop
Kimberly Wannop has found her dream job in production design.
Primetime Emmy Tally: One
How She Got the Gold: For outstanding production design for a narrative program (half hour or less), in 2017, for HBO's Veep.
Now for the Noms: Wannop has been nominated four times: in 2016, 2017 and 2019 for Veep, and in 2009 for Fox's Bones.
Night of Delight: "It was humbling to be acknowledged by our peers for our work on Veep. The whole experience of winning was special. The Emmys is the best adult prom you'll ever go to. I took Emmy on the dance floor — she likes disco!"
Decor to Adore: "I love walking into the Governors Ball and just being in awe of the decor. The quality of everything — the food, the table settings, the live band — makes it an impressive experience if you win or not."
Career Calling: "I always wanted to be a part of the magic of TV and film. I studied interior architecture, and after college I worked my way up from office P.A. to the art department. I joined the Art Directors Guild and eventually found the set decorating path. I've always loved design and architecture, so combining that with my love of TV and film means I really have my dream job as a set decorator."
Great Gig: "The producers at Veep were genuinely in it to make it the best that we could, and I got to collaborate with the talented Jim Gloster, one of the nicest production designers."
New and Now: "Since February 2020 I've been working on FX's Impeachment: American Crime Story while raising twin toddler boys and doing a podcast about production design called Decorating Pages . (I've been lucky to have many Emmy winners on the show!) Loving my busy life!"
