Eight-Year Emmy Deal with Networks Renewed
As it prepares to celebrate the Emmy Awards 70th Anniversary, the Television Academy and representatives from ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC announced today that the Academy's contract with the four broadcast networks to televise the Primetime Emmy Awards has been extended through 2026.
The Primetime Emmy Awards will continue a "wheel rotation" with each of the four broadcast networks, beginning with FOX for the 2019 telecast and continuing with ABC, CBS and NBC, respectively.
For 70 years, the Emmy has been the industry's most coveted prize and is awarded to those who exemplify excellence in the field of television and emerging media. The Emmy Awards is one of the most anticipated evenings of live television each year and celebrates the passion, art and craft of television.
"We thank Ken Ziffren, and all those involved from both the Television Academy and the broadcast networks in reaching this new agreement," said Television Academy Chairman and CEO Hayma Washington. "We are excited to continue our collaboration with the four networks in celebrating excellence in television each year, honoring the great programs, performances and content that captivate millions of fans."
This year's three-hour Emmy Awards telecast will air Monday, September 17 at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT live on NBC. Colin Jost and Michael Che of Saturday Night Live will host.
