Maury McIntyre Promoted to President and COO

McIntyre Elevated to New Role Following the Passing of Lucy Hood

The Television Academy announced today that Maury McIntyre has been promoted to President and COO. The announcement was made by Academy Chairman and CEO Bruce Rosenblum. The Academy had been looking to fill the role of President after the passing of former President Lucy Hood in early April.

McIntyre, who joined the Academy in March of 2013, has been an integral part of the Academy's growth and transformation. Originally hired as Vice President of Digital, McIntyre is responsible for the Academy's elevated digital presence with our award-winning new website and major content distribution partnership with Yahoo. Additionally, he has been instrumental in the implementation of online voting for the Primetime Emmys. His focus on social media has tripled the Academy's reach in the area, and the expansion of the Television Academy's digital content around the Primetime Emmys helped secure and augment partnerships with such leading brands as Audi and Samsung.

"Maury is a dynamic executive whose vision and experience has propelled the Academy into the future," said Rosenblum. "Equally important, Maury stepped up during a very difficult time for the Academy to not only lead the staff, but ensure that our membership and organization continued business as usual."

As President and COO, McIntyre will oversee Academy staff along with the day-to-day activities of the organization. Reporting to Television Academy Chairman Bruce Rosenblum and Foundation Chairman Jerry Petry, he will work closely with each of them and their respective boards as they strategize continued Academy growth and industry leadership, member services and expanded philanthropic outreach. Given his area of expertise, McIntyre will continue to be very focused on the Academy's digital strategy while also shepherding key initiatives like the development of a new media center and an Academy Foundation endowment.

Prior to joining the Television Academy, McIntyre was most recently Vice President of Programming and Editorial for Disney Interactive where he oversaw content and development for over 60 sites, delivering unprecedented increases in online traffic and engagement across the network. He additionally held senior-level leadership roles at Tokyopop and Twentieth Century Fox, where he oversaw global consumer product and franchise marketing programs for all of Fox's television properties.

McIntyre is an award-winning composer who holds an MFA in Performing Arts Management from the California Institute of the Arts. He also earned his Master of Science from Stanford University, and both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas at Austin.
