Robert Kotlowitz, Influential Public Television Executive

Kotlowitz was a novelist and magazine editor before he came to WYNC, where he helped to shape programming for decades.

Robert Kotlowitz, an influential public television executive who left an enduring impact on cultural and public affairs programming, died August 25, 2012, in New York City. He was 87.

According to news reports the cause was prostate cancer.

During his lengthy tenure at WYNC Channel 13, America's largest public television station, Kotlowitz helped to bring numerous noteworthy productions to U.S. TV, including The MacNeil/Lehrer Report, Live at the Met, Dance in America, Monty Python’s Flying Circus, Bill Moyers Journal, Nature and Brideshead Revisited.
