Emily Squires, Longtime Sesame Street Director

In addition to her work with the landmark children's series, Squires wrote for several popular daytime dramas.

Emily Squires, a director who worked for many years on the award-winning children's program Sesame Street, died November 21, 2012, in New York City. She was 71.

Squires, who directed episodes of Sesame Street from 1982 to 2007, was also a writer for the show.

She also directed such shows as Between the Lions, another PBS program devoted to children's education.

In addition. Squires wrote for such popular daytime dramas as The Guiding Light and As the World Turns.

Also, she directed such documentaries as Visions of Perfect Worlds, about the Dalai Lama; The Art of Being Human, about artist Frederick Franck; and Five Masters of Meditation.
