FYC Partner Center: Campaign Guidelines

FYC Partner Center > Campaign Guidelines

We appreciate your cooperation in following these guidelines when planning campaigns and creating materials.

When infractions are brought to our attention, they will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and the guidelines will be enforced.

If you have any questions, please contact us at fyc@televisionacademy.com.

Guidelines for all FYC Promotional Materials

Permitted uses of the word Emmy:

  • Within the context of "FYC" - for example:
    - Emmy® 2020 FYC
    - Emmy® 2020 For Your Consideration
    - For Your Emmy® Consideration

  • Within the context of a reference to a previous year's Emmy competition, such as
    - The 2019 Emmy® Nominee in 12 categories
    - Nominee, Outstanding Contemporary Costumes 71st Emmy® Awards
    - The 2019 Emmy® Winner for Outstanding Limited Series
    - Last Year's Emmy® Winner for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series

Always add the superscript ® immediately following the first use of the word Emmy.

Uses of the word Emmy that are not permitted:

  • DO NOT use the word Emmy in your URL or e-mail address.
  • DO NOT use the word Emmy - outside of the permitted uses above - in your promotional booklet, postcard or email, in your social media, FYC event invitation, emmy magazine ads, or any other promotional executions (billboards, signage, bus wraps, etc.).

Other restrictions:

  • DO NOT use any Emmy statuette imagery within any FYC promotional materials or executions.
  • DO NOT use blatant campaign or disparaging language in either social media or traditional media, i.e., no "VOTE FOR ME" ads are permitted in emmy magazine, in the trades or consumer pubs, on radio, or on any social media platforms.

Events

  • DO NOT invite Television Academy members to sign up for mailing lists, invitation distribution lists, or give their personal information in exchange for any gifts, physical or digital items, event invitations, or information.
  • Member Code of Conduct applies at all events and will be reviewed with event hosts and producers prior to each event. The Academy will bring the Code of Conduct to the attention of all members wishing to attend FYC events.

Events Not Sanctioned by the Television Academy

  • If you choose to host events promoting your Emmy-eligible programs, there will be no access to invite voting Television Academy membership, unless that date is available on our FYC Event Calendar and you book the event as a sanctioned FYC event. In that case, regular FYC Event fees apply.
  • The Academy does not offer or sanction any FYC events during voting or in between voting rounds. If you host a gathering promoting your Emmy-eligible program during either period of time, you may not promote it as an FYC Event.
  • You may not invite Television Academy members to a non-sanctioned event while they are in attendance at an official Television Academy-sanctioned FYC Event.

Promotion Between Voting Rounds

The Academy does not offer or sanction any FYC campaign events during voting or in between voting rounds. If you host an event promoting your Emmy-eligible program during either period of time, you may not promote it as an FYC Event. There will be no access to invite the Television Academy membership to such events during this time period.

After our nominations announcement, we do allow congratulatory messages and ads. We will provide brand-appropriate Emmy statuette imagery and usage guidelines for those preparing congratulatory ad/messaging to place across different media. Please contact us at fyc@televisionacademy.com for these assets.
