About The Event

The Art of the Real: The Creative Eye of the Unscripted Director of Photography

If it's really real, how did they get that shot?

Reality Peer Group Governors Jon Murray and Phil Segal, along with their Peer Group Executive Committee, invite Television Academy members and a guest to a fascinating evening exploring the craft of the Unscripted Director of Photography. Wine, beer and snacks will be served at a reception following the panel.

Emmy-winning and -nominated reality DP panelists* include

  • Gus Dominguez, Project Runway
  • David Reichert, Deadliest Catch
  • Joia Speciale, Intervention
  • Bruce Ready, I Am Cait

Moderated by the Governors, the panel will showcase clips of the featured DP's work, unique insights about how their work helps tell a story, and a lively Q&A session.

We encourage members of the Reality Peer Group, as well as the Cinematography, Directors, Documentary, Electronic Production, Picture Editors and Producers Peer Groups to attend.

Members, please bring a guest or a colleague interested in joining the Television Academy.
