Children's Programming Governors Jill Sanford and Troy Underwood, along with their Peer Group Executive Committee, in partnership with UCLA's Center for Scholars & Storytellers, invite you to:

The Future of Children's and Family Programming: Making Authentic the New Aspirational

The concept of "aspirational" programming for kids and families has long been connected to an over-representation of affluence. As our world heads toward a time of economic uncertainty, how can television aimed towards children and families portray joy, magic and escape while also reflecting the economic realities of children's lives? Come hear an academic research presentation about the impact of such portrayals on the audience, followed by a discussion from our panelists about these issues and the importance of showcasing economic authenticity to the next generation.

Panelists:*
Kabir Akhtar, ACE, Emmy-winning Editor and Director (Never Have I Ever, Julie and the Phantoms)
Deena Beck, Storyboard artist (Craig of the Creek)
Lisa Muse Bryant, Co-Executive Producer and Writer (black-ish)
Miguel Puga, Producer/Director (The Casagrandes, The Loud House)
