Victoria Wood was a British performer, writer, director and comedian who was well known for her down-to-earth and self-deprecating humor. An icon on British television for more than three decades, she won four BAFTA Awards.

Wood came to fame as a stand-up comic during the 1980s. She went on to create the series Victoria Wood: As Seen on TV, which ran from 1985 to 1987, and featured her longtime friend and collaborator Julie Walters. Wood also composed the title song for the series, and penned others that would become a part of her stand-up routines and television shows and specials.

She was also responsible for creating the series Pat and Margaret, Victoria Wood, Dinnerladies, Victoria’s Empire and the TV specials An Audience with Victoria Wood, Victoria Wood's All Day Breakfast, Victoria Wood: Live in Your Own Home and Victoria Wood with All the Trimmings.
