Sumner Redstone was an American businessman and media magnate.
A graduate of Harvard Law School who worked as a Japanese code-breaker during World War II, Redstone went to work for his father's growing movie exhibition business in 1954.
He traveled New England acquiring properties for the chain, which came to be known as National Amusements, and developed an insight into the theater business.
Growing the business exponentially, he coined the term "multiplex" and the mantra "content is king", and would go on to make investments in film studios and media companies, engineering deals for Viacom, Paramount, and CBS.
