Seamon Glass was a character actor best known for his role in the 1972 film Deliverance, starring Jon Voight and Burt Reynolds. Glass played one of the Griner brothers, whom Reynolds’ character encounters on the way to the Chulawassee River.
Glass also appeared in Woody Allen’s Sleeper, as a guard who fights with Allen’s character after he wakes up in the future, and in Bette Midler’s The Rose, playing a trucker. Glass got his first (uncredited) role in 1960 as a pirate in Spartacus, starring Kirk Douglas, Tony Curtis and Laurence Olivier.
He went on to appear in the films Kid Galahad, starring Elvis Presley; For Love or Money, with Kirk Douglas; Captain Newman, M.D., with Gregory Peck, Tony Curtis, and Angie Dickinson; Slither, with James Caan; Mel Brooks’ Blazing Saddles; Harry and Walter Go to New York, starring Caan, Elliott Gould and Michael Caine; An Enemy of the People, starring Steve McQueen; The Norseman, starring Lee Majors; and Partners, with Ryan O’Neal and John Hurt.
Additionally, Glass appeared on many television series and made-for-TV movies, including the shows Perry Mason, Star Trek, Tarzan, The Beverly Hillbillies, Gunsmoke, The F.B.I., Mannix, Kojak, The Waltons, Swiss Family Robinson, Switch and Vega$, as well as the telefilms The Other Side of Hell, starring Alan Arkin; Mr. Horn, with David Carradine; and Gideon’s Trumpet, starring Henry Fonda.

Born in New York City, Glass and his mother moved to California after his father died when he was 13. He later served in the Marine Corps, and became a boxer in the heavyweight division; he was in about 50 fights as an amateur and professional. He also worked for three decades as a schoolteacher and guidance counselor at Fairfax High School in Los Angeles.
Glass died July 12, 2016, in Los Angeles. He was 90.
