Sanford "Sandy" Frank was a writer and producer who won four Emmys for his work on Late Night with David Letterman.

Frank grew up in Springfield, Massachusetts, and earned undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard University. He worked as an attorney at the law firm Donovan Leisure but eventually left the profession to pursue comedy writing at the urging of Harvard friend James Downey, who had established himself as a successful writer-producer for Saturday Night Live and Late Night.

He spent five years on the Letterman show, and won an Emmy for outstanding writing four times. He went on to work for such shows as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, In Living Color, Martin, The Jamie Foxx Show and The 1/2 Hour News Hour.

In addition, Frank wrote a book, The Inner Game of Screenwriting, considered by many to be one of the best of its kind.

Frank died April 18, 2014, in Calabasas, California. He was 59.
