Ron Lester was an actor known for his work in the film Varsity Blues and the television series Popular, among others.
Overwight from an early age, Lester eventually became extremely obese, and at one point weighed more than 500 pounds. He began performing as an extra in a television commercial in his native Georgia, followed by a music video for the band Little Texas.

After relocating to Los Angeles he began performing stand-up comedy, which led to a part in the 1997 film Good Burger. He scored his most memorable role two years later when he was cast as Billy Bob in Varsity Blues, a drama about high school football starring James Van Der Beek. His other movies included Dill Scallion and Not Another Teen Movie.
In Popular he costarred as Michael "Sugar Daddy" Bernardino, a member of the football team. His other television projects included Freaks and Geeks, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch and CSI: NY.
In 2001 Lester had gastric bypass surgery and lost more than 300 pounds. He later underwent numerous plastic surgeries to remove excess skin.
Lester died on June 17, 2016, in Dallas, Texas. He was 45.
