Rocci Chatfield was a television writer whose career spanned more than three decades.
Born in Boulder, Colorado, Chatfield attended Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts.
She later relocated to Los Angeles, where she began her career as a television writer in the early 1960s. Her credits included such long-running series as Days of Our Lives, Knots Landing, Little House on the Prairie, My Three Sons, and Family Affair. She received two Daytime Emmy nominations for her work on Days of Our Lives.

A devoted member of the Television Academy for more than 40 years, Chatfield served six terms as a Governor of the Writers Peer Group and two terms on the Academy’s Executive Committee. In addition to her leadership roles, she produced dozens of notable Academy events. Highlights included the popular “Inside” panel series, as well as an annual Family Day celebration and special evenings with such stars as Tony Bennett and Liza Minnelli. Chatfield also wrote and produced the Academy’s 60th anniversary gala and served on numerous committees, including Hall of Fame, Daytime Awards, Governors Award, Governors Ball, Primetime Awards, Primetime Awards Show, By-Laws, Membership, Hyphenate and more.
Always a passionate advocate for writers, Chatfield was also a dedicated member of the Writers Guild of America. Her notable contributions included serving on the negotiating committee during the 1988 writers’ strike. She earned two nominations for the Guild’s Writing Award and was honored with the Writers Guild of America Service Award for her contributions to the organization.
In acknowledgment of her professional achievements, her hometown of Boulder, Colorado, declared April 30, 2016, Rocci Chatfield Appreciation Day.
