Rick Squire was an American television executive.

He began his career at Westinghouse/Group W (the broadcasting division of Westinghouse Electric Corporation) as a promo writer and director.

Squire worked as a director of special projects for NBC’s promotion department from 1982-1985. He also directed a handful of pilots, series, and live events, including a Christmas event for Disneyland. Squire would go on to work in a similar capacity for CBS, beginning in 1987.

Squire joined Fox as senior vice-president of creative marketing in 2000. He steered campaigns for such series as 24, That ’70s Show, Malcolm in the Middle and American Idol. He left Fox in in 2003.

Squire also helmed Planet 3 Entertainment, a boutique company that produced promotional campaigns for numerous broadcast and cable networks. Planet 3 was active in the 1990s and again from 2004 to 2011.

Squire earned multiple Clio awards (advertising’s equivalent to the Oscars) for his work over the years.

Most recently, Squire had been working on the promotional and marketing campaigns for the Discovery Plus streaming service, scheduled to launch in January 2021.

Squire died December 17, 2020, in Long Beach, California. He was 68.
