Ray Brady

Ray Brady was an American financial reporter.

He was perhaps most widely known for delivering the popular Money Crunch segments during the CBS Evening News in the 1990s.

After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Brady earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Fordham University in 1948.  His career began as a police reporter in New Jersey, then he moved on to work for Forbes and Barron’s magazines before serving as the editor of Dun’s Review.

In 1972, Brady joined CBS at Newsradio 880, moving to WCBS-TV a few years later, and soon after was hired as a correspondent for the CBS Morning News.

Brady covered business, economics, and Wall Street for CBS television and radio for nearly three decades. In 1982, he shared an Emmy for his contribution to CBS News with Dan Rather for a series of reports about unemployed Americans dealing with the recession.

Brady died January 12, 2021, in Manhattan, New York City, New York. He was 94.
