Paul Kagan

Paul Kagan was an American media analyst for the entertainment industry.

With a degree in communications from Hunter College, Kagan was a sportswriter, a play-by-play radio announcer for the New York Yankees farm team, and a public relations specialist for Stan Lee before landing a job as a broadcasting securities analyst for E.F. Hutton, where his fascination with the cable television industry blossomed.

Known as the "Cable Guru", Kagan became the first analyst to print public company valuations based on multiples of cash flow and computations of the private value of public media companies.

He was one of the first to recognize the power and potential of cable television and forecasted and provided financial date about the entertainment industry for nearly 50 years.

Kagan died August 23, 2020, in Carmel, California. He was 82.
