Morrie Gelman

Morrie Gelman was an American historian and journalist.

After serving in the U.S. Army, Gelman worked at the New York Post as an assistant to famed columnist Earl Wilson. He would go on to become a senior correspondent for Broadcasting Magazine, later known as TV Week, and work for Variety and Daily Variety, where he shared an office with another famous film journalist, Army Archerd.

Throughout his career, he covered television and media news in Los Angeles, New York, and Washington D.C.

As a historian, he was a chief interviewer for the Television Academy Foundation's series, The Interviews: An Oral History of Television, where he sat down with a number of influential creatives including Jack Lemmon, Ed Asner, Angela Lansbury, Carl Reiner, Norman Lear, and James Garner.

Gelman died August 26, 2020, in Palm Desert, California. He was 90.
