Michael Vincent Buddy

Michael Vincent Buddy was a television director and a News and Documentary Emmy Award winner for Outstanding Instant Coverage of a Single Breaking News Story, for the program, "Desert Storm, Days 1, 2 & 3."

Buddy began his career in 1962 in the CBS News mail room. From there, he rose through the ranks to become Associate Director of the CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite.

In 1978, he began a 20 year career at ABC News, first as director of the Evening News and later as director of This Week with David Brinkley, 20/20 and Good Morning America.

Buddy is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betsey; his sons Noah, Seth and Christopher; six grandchildren; his siblings, Julie de Wolff, Mason Buddy, Nancy Gaffney and Kate Thornton; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Buddy died on April 3, 2017, in Greenwich, Connecticut. He was 76.
