Matt Roberts

Matt Roberts was a musician best known for being the original lead guitarist for the rock band 3 Doors Down. The band is best known for their hits “Kryptonite,” “When I’m Gone” and “Here Without You.”

Roberts performed with the band on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Ellen: The Ellen DeGeneres Show, among other programs.

Their music was also used on several American Idol spin-offs, including New Zealand Idol, Idol (the Swedish version), Canadian Idol, Australian Idol, German Idol and Idols (the South African version), in addition to an episode of Dancing with the Stars.

“Kryptonite” was also used in the 2001 film Corky Romano, starring Chris Kattan, and 2010’s Kick-Ass, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Nicolas Cage and Chloë Grace Moretz.

Roberts died from an accidental drug overdose on August 20, 2016, in West Bend, Wisconsin. He was 38.
