Lynn Borden

Lynn Borden was an actress best known for her role as Barbara Baxter in the final season of the 1960s television comedy Hazel. The series starred Shirley Booth in title role, the maid and housekeeper for the Baxter household.

Hazel began its reign on NBC in 1961, where it stayed for four seasons. The show was canceled, but was then revived by Booth, and ultimately moved to CBS, where it stayed on the air for one more season. Borden joined in the final season, after the series changed cast members, playing the sister-in-law to original character George Baxter.

Born Lynn Freyse, Borden was enrolled in acting classes at a young age as a way to overcome her shyness. She got the better parts in school plays and small roles in Western films shot in Arizona. In 1958 she was a top 10 semifinalist in the Miss America pageant. She later enrolled at the University of Arizona, where she earned a B.A. in theater.

Borden made guest appearances on many other popular television series, including General Hospital, The Dick Van Dyke Show, My Three Sons, Family Affair, Ironside, Get Smart, The Mod Squad, McMillan and Wife, Starsky and Hutch, Fantasy Island and CSI: NY. She also played Miss Pinkey in a production of Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color in the episode "The Whiz Kid and the Mystery at Riverton."
