John Lafia

John Lafia was an American film and television writer, director, and producer.

Lafia's first feature film was 1988's The Blue Iguana (with Dylan McDermott, Jessica Harper, and Dean Stockwell), which he wrote and directed as well as producing the soundtrack.

Lafia was perhaps best known for co-writing the 1988 horror film Child's Play, and co-writing and directing its sequel, Child's Play 2. Lafia was credited with coining the name "Chucky" and contributed the famous line, "Hi, I'm Chucky, wanna play?" He also received a writing credit on the 2019 remake.

Lafia died April 29, 2020, in Los Angeles, California. He was 63.
