Jerry Douglas was an American actor.

For 25 years Douglas portrayed patriarch John Abbott in the fictional Genoa City on the daytime television series The Young and the Restless.

Douglas joined the cast of The Young and the Restless in March 1982 and was a mainstay in Genoa City until his death in 2006. He then made appearances as a ghost who continued to counsel his children, with his last appearance on the show coming in 2016.

More recently, he showed up on episodes of Cold Case, Melrose Place, and Arrested Development.

Douglas died November 9, 2021 in Los Angeles, California. He was 88.
