After earning a degree in broadcasting from SUNY Oswego, Tilin worked as an editor, visual effects artist, and an executive.

He was an early adopter of post-production technologies, from HD video to 4K and HDR finishing, which are now considered standard.

Tilin’s notable television credits include Hap and Leonard, The Night Of, Marco Polo, State of Affairs, True Detective, Boardwalk Empire, Mildred Pierce, and The West.

He also worked on the films: The Kid (2019), High Flying Bird (2019), The Greatest Showman (2017), Blue Jasmine (2013), The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013), The Place Beyond the Pines (2012), Being Flynn (2012), and Tadpole (2002).

Tilin died February 12, 2020, in New York City, New York. He was 62.
