Jay LaMonica

Jay LaMonica was a network producer who spent 15 years at ABC News and, most recently, Al Jazeera America, where he executive produced the network’s America Tonight newscast. He also contributed to the television movie documentary A Line in the Sand: War or Peace? and an episode of the series Primetime, titled “Moment of Crisis: System Failure.”

LaMonica began his career in media working for ABC News in 1979, mainly as a producer for Nightline. He reported from every corner of the globe, including Central Asia, the Middle East, and southern Africa. He also produced documentaries for Discovery Channel and PBS Newshour. In 2013, he joined Al Jazeera America for its launch.

Over the course of his career, LaMonica worked with Ted Koppel, Barbara Walters, Peter Jennings and Christiane Amanpour, and won nine news Emmys, a DuPont, a Peabody, a Murrow and many other awards.
