James Pond was an American television writer and producer.

Pond majored in journalism in college. His first job was working in public relations for the automobile industry. After two years working for Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Pond decided to try his hand at television writing.

His credits as a television writer and producer include Charles in Charge, Newhart, Night Court, and Living Single, as well as the short-lived series Madman of the People (with Dabney Coleman), Hope & Faith (with Kelly Ripa and Faith Ford), For Your Love (with Holly Robinson Peete), One on One, Half & Half, and Rita Rocks.

Pond retired from television in 2012 to concentrate on writing short stories.

Pond died January 3, 2019, in Costa Mesa, California. He was 60.
