Gordon Hunt was a director, performer, acting instructor and father to actress Helen Hunt.

His varied career included the helming of cartoons, most notably The Flintstone Comedy Show, The Fonz and Happy Days Gang, Laverne & Shirley in the Army, The Gary Coleman Show, The Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Puppy Hour, Richie Rich, Pac-Man, Pink Panther and Sons, The Jetsons, Popeye and Son, Yogi’s Treasure Hunt, The Smurfs, Paddington Bear, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Tom & Jerry Kids Show.

Hunt also directed episodes of live action series including Hudson Street; Caroline in the City; Coach; Frasier; Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place; Suddenly Susan; and his daughter’s Emmy Award winning series Mad About You, on which he also had a small role as a TV host.

He was also a performer himself, and voiced characters in episodes of The Addams Family and Dilbert.

Ever the Renaissance Man, Hunt also appeared on an episode of Cheers, penned an episode of Hawaiian Eye, served for years as the casting director at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, worked on musicals performed at the Hollywood Bowl, provided voice direction on video games and taught acting classes.

Hunt died December 17, 2016, in Sherman Oaks, California. He was 87.
