Dmitri Hvorostovsky was a Russian opera singer best known for his warm, baritone vocals that made him one of the most prominent opera singers of his generation.

Hvorostovsky appeared on several television series including Great Performances, The Metropolitan Opera HD Live, The Bolshoi Ballet: Live from Moscow and Live from Lincoln Center.

Additionally, Hvorostovsky performed in the television specials Gala Tribute to Tchaikovsky, St Petersburg 300th Anniversary Gala, Netrebko and Hvorostovsky: Live in Red Square, as well as the telefilms Il Trovatore and La Traviata.

Hvorostovsky excelled as Valentin in Gounod’s Faust, Belcore in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore, the title role of Mozart’s Don Giovanni and the title part of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin.

He died November 22, 2017, in London, England. He was 55.
