Brian Garfield

Brian Garfield was an American novelist and screenwriter.

Garfield wrote his first book, the Western-themed Range Justice, at age 18.

He is best known for his 1972 novel Death Wish, which was adapted for the 1974 film of the same title, followed by four sequels (all five films starred Charles Bronson), and the 2018 remake, which starred Bruce Willis.

Garfield also wrote the screenplay for the 1980 film Hopscotch (with Walter Matthau, Glenda Jackson, and Sam Waterston), which was adapted from his own novel.

Garfield died December 29, 2018, in Pasadena, California. He was 79.
