Bobby Vee was a singer and performer best known for being a pop idol in the 1960s with the hits "Take Good Care of My Baby," "Run to Him" and "Rubber Ball.”

The musician was launched into stardom in 1959 following a plane crash that killed Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson. Vee was 15 when he was one of several acts chosen to step in for the performers.

Vee’s music was featured on episodes of American Masters, Cold Case and Call the Midwife.

He also appeared or performed on Juke Box Jury, The Joey Bishop Show and New American Bandstand 1965, among many others.

Vee died October 24, 2016, in Rogers, Minnesota. He was 73.
