Billy Goldenberg

Billy Goldenberg was an American composer, conductor, and songwriter.

With a career that began in the theater, Goldenberg moved to Hollywood composing music for the television series Kukla, Fran and Ollie, The Ann-Margret Show, It Takes a Thief, and Night Gallery.

He collaborated on television specials with Elvis Presley, Diana Ross, and Petula Clark, while writing the theme songs for Kojak and Rhoda, and providing music for a number of television series such as Columbo, Alias Smith and Jones, Delvecchio, Executive Suite, Harry O, and Our House.

His first foray into film was on the Jacqueline Bisset feature The Grasshopper (1970). Goldenberg would go on to compose music for Steven Spielberg's Duel (1971), Woody Allen's Play It Again, Sam (1972), Barbra Streisand's Up the Sandbox (1972), and 18 Again! (1988), starring George Burns.

He was nominated for Primetime Emmy awards 16 times, winning twice for Outstanding Achievement in Music Composition for a Series for his work on the miniseries The Lives of Benjamin Franklin in 1975 and King in 1978.

Goldenberg died August 3, 2020, in New York City, New York. He was 84.
