Bernard Slade was a Canadian playwright and screenwriter.
In the 1960s and '70s, Slade developed two comedic television series starring Sally Field: The Flying Nun, and The Girl With Something Extra. He also created The Partridge Family, Love on a Rooftop, and Bridget Loves Bernie, and served as a story editor on Bewitched, writing 17 episodes of his own.
As a playwright, he wrote Same Time, Next Year (1978), Tribute (1980), and Romantic Comedy (1983), as well as penning their film adaptations.

Both versions of Same Time, Next Year starred Ellen Burstyn; she and Slade earned Tony and Oscar nominations for their contributions, Burstyn winning in 1975 for her stage performance.
Slade died October 30, 2019, in Beverly Hills, California. He was 89.
