Al Brodax

Al Brodax was a writer and producer best known for turning the Beatles song “Yellow Submarine” into an animated film of the same name in 1968. The surreal, psychedelic feature followed the Beatles as they accompanied Captain Fred on his yellow submarine to Pepperland.

Brodax also produced 220 episodes of Popeye the Sailor during the 1960s, while he was running the motion picture and television division of King Features Syndicate.

Additionally, he produced episodes of Krazy Kat, Beetle Bailey, Snuffy Smith and Barney Google, Vacation Playhouse, Blondie and The Beatles, an animated series that ran on Saturday mornings from 1965 to 1969.

Brodax died November 24, 2016, in Danbury, Connecticut. He was 90.
