Backstage in the Architectural Digest Greenroom

On this noteworthy 60th anniversary, Architectural Digest pays tribute to television’s biggest night with an original greenroom that brings the occasion—traditionally honored with diamonds—to life. From the room’s shape to the interior details, this year’s Architectural Digest Greenroom is inspired by those brilliant gems, giving presenters an intimate, sparkling space for relaxing before their stage cues.

For the seventh year of this high-style partnership with the Television Academy, Architectural Digest turned to AD100 designer Mark Boone who, in turn, looked to diamonds. “My design embodies the characteristics of diamonds: depth, sparkle, crispness, mystery, faceting, intensity, and glamour,” Boone explains. Antiqued mirrors line the faceted walls and plush, platinum sheepskin swathes cozy banquettes. Other furnishings look to diamonds’ natural origins, such as sculptural cocktail tables with the look of rough-cut gems as well as rock crystal sconces. Custom hardwood flooring creates a multi-layered diamond pattern underfoot, and at the center of it all hangs a glittering focal point: a one-of-a-kind, three-tiered chandelier created by Hearts On Fire for the Primetime Emmys’® anniversary, complete with more than 4,000 perfectly cut diamonds in its intricate design.

Architectural Digest’s next “Hollywood at Home” issue comes out this Fall, continuing the publication’s long history of exclusive celebrity home coverage, including Emmy nominees such as Michael Imperioli, Christopher Meloni, Kelsey Grammer and William H. Macy & Felicity Huffman, to name a few. Fit for a group of television’s bright stars, this year's greenroom adds true style to the backstage scene.

And The Designer Is…

Known for a relaxed, organically inspired California style, Mark Boone’s design vernacular is derived from an appreciation of clean, light, architectural surroundings. Working with partner Mimi London on interiors as well as a thriving furnishings line, the firm employs all-natural materials that take into account the world’s sensitive balance. Boone was thrilled at the opportunity to work on this incomparable project.
