Board of Governors Extends Current Terms for Officers and Governors Through 2016

Bruce Rosenblum to serve as Chairman and CEO through December, 2016

In an effort to maintain continuity as it prepares to enter its pivotal 70th anniversary year, which will be marked by the successful completion of a capital and endowment campaign and the unveiling of a re-imagined North Hollywood campus, the Television Academy's board of governors tonight approved an amendment to its bylaws that extends the current terms of its officers and governors for an additional 12 months, commencing January 1, 2016 and continuing through December 31, 2016.

The bylaw amendment also lifts, on a one-time-basis, the four-year sequential term limit for the Chairman and CEO, which will allow Bruce Rosenblum to continue to serve in that capacity for a fifth year.

The leadership of the Academy continues to spearhead a series of major initiatives ranging from expanding both diversity and membership, to planning the celebration of the Academy's landmark 70th anniversary next year, to unveiling and opening a major new media center on the Academy campus, to overseeing the largest capital and endowment campaign in the Academy's history, to a series of critical rules changes in Emmy voting procedures.

"This is terrific news for the Academy and the industry," said Television Academy president Maury McIntyre. "We're on an exciting path and are entering a critical moment on so many projects. We're happy to have steady hands in leadership who volunteer much of their time and are willing to extend that time for the betterment of our organization, membership and industry-at-large."
