Ruth Foster, Actress Known for Little House on the Prairie, More

Ruth Foster, an actress best known for the role of Mrs. Foster, the postmistress on the television series Little House on the Prairie, died May 11, 2012, in Del Mar, California. She was 92.

According to news reports, she died of natural causes.

Foster got her start in vaudeville in the early 1930s, and with her husband, comedian Bobby Pinkus, entertained troops in the South Pacific during WWII.

She found work in television in the 1950s with roles on such series as Your Show of Shows and The Spike Jones Shows. She later went on to appear on Ben Casey and Bonanza.

Foster appeared in 61 episodes of Little House on the Prairie and three Little House made-for-TV movies. She also worked on Highway to Heaven.
