Richard Lynch, Actor Known for Playing Villains and Tough Guys

In addition to several memorable film roles, Lynch appeared in dozens of television series over the course of his career.

Richard Lynch an actor who often played villains and nemeses in a long list of feature films and television series, died June 19, 2012, in Palm Springs, California. He was 76.

According to news reports, a friend found Lynch dead in his home.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, on February 12, 1940, Lynch got his start in the early 1970s with small roles in movies like Scarecrow and The Seven Ups and television series like Baretta and Switch.

Although he appeared in numerous films — others included The Ninth Configuration, Invasion U.S.A., Little Nikita and the 2007 version of Halloween — Lynch had roles in dozens of TV series. They included Battlestar Galactica, The Streets of San Francisco, Starsky and Hutch, Charlie’s Angels, Barnaby Jones, T.J. Hooker, The A-Team, Star Trek: The Next Generation and Six Feet Under.

Lynch was known for his facial scars, which he is reported to have sustained in a 1967 accident involving fire.

Survivors include a son from his marriage to first wife who died of pneumonia in 2005. He is also survived by a brother and by his second wife.
