Ponciano "Poncie" Ponce, Co-Star of TV's Hawaiian Eye

On the series, which aired from 1959-1963. Ponce played cab driver Kazuo Kim.

Ponciano "Poncie" Ponce, an actor who costarred in the television series Hawaiian Eye, died July 19, 2013, at his Los Angeles home. He was 80.

In news reports, no cause was given.

In the show, a detective drama that aired form 1959-63, Ponce played cab driver Kazuo Kim. The series, set in Honolulu, featured Robert Conrad, Anthony Eisley and Connie Stevens.

Ponce also appeared in the television series 77 Sunset Strip, The Red Skelton Hour and The Gallant Men.

His film credits include the 1968 Elvis Presley movie Speedway.

He was born Ponciano Tabac Ponce on April 10, 1933, in Maui, and grew up on the Big Island.

In addition to acting, he played the ukelele and sang, and sometimes performed as a nightclub entertainer.
